Angie Root and Philipe White Wedding

“We could tell from the website that Ceremony DJs is for the couple who loves music, but we fell in love with this company after our first conversation with Jamie back in 2020 because we spent almost an hour on the phone just geeking out about artists we loved. We hired him on the spot but then realized we'd given him the wrong date and he was already booked! Jamie offered to send his friend, Ed, in his place, and we trusted him. It was one of the best decisions we made. We met Ed, and his partner, Blue, over Zoom with Jamie after we hired them and found ourselves drinking whiskey and laughing about the absurdity of life. Our homework after that call, apart from choosing songs for our processional, recessional, first dance, etc, was to put together a Spotify playlist of ALL the music we love. Even stuff we would never want played at a wedding. Tall order. We eventually gave them 13 hours of music, and they would have wanted more! Then the pandemic decided no one was getting married for awhile, and we found ourselves in the position so many other couples can relate to, trying to figure out when/if/how to salvage our wedding day in a safe and worthwhile way. And these guys stayed with us through all of it - all five attempts at our celebration. We ended up with about 90 people on a mountain in the Santa Cruz Redwoods on 8/21/21, and it was magical. We wanted an epic dance party at our wedding, but we also wanted to shy away from traditional wedding songs in favor of the music we really love. I was, admittedly, a bit concerned about the music leading into the weekend because we never gave Ed a top-ten list or a must-play list, or a don't play list. etc, and I was worried people would only want to dance to music they knew. Or that our tastes wouldn't make for good wedding vibes. But we didn't NEED to give these guys any lists because they are THAT good. They actually clicked through the massive playlist we sent them and interpreted US by indulging in our musical tastes, which is nuts because our combined affinity for lyricism and melodic beats is super random. We love the classics, 90s rap, synth-pop, indie and American folk, but we also LOVE drum and bass, Bay Area rap, blues, ambient electronica, EDM, soul, Southern gospel, Indian hip-hop, French pop, Israeli folk, a Capella groups, emo throwbacks, you name it. SO. Random. And our guests LOVED it. Everyone I danced with was praising the music. And we got our wish! Our dance floor was packed from the first song until the last song with clever transitions, insane drops, and the happiest energy. Every song was so us. Ed wove tracks together so seamlessly, spanning multiple genres and eras to create a truly unique set-list, and we danced our hearts out with our favorite people until we had to leave. You can hire any DJ to play top 40 hits and hope they know how to read a crowd, but if you want a customized experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. Jamie and Ed are incredibly talented artists who happen to also enjoy being a vital role in major life events, and the wedding industry is lucky to have them. And BLUE! Blue is the most adorable, and stunning, emcee I could have asked for and a joy to be around. To us, these three are so much more than vendors. They are friends, and we feel so fortunate that our paths crossed when they did because they made our wedding day unforgettable”
